Social Security Administration Baltimore Metro West Facility

EBA provided quality control inspection and testing services for the new 538,000-square-foot Social Security Administration campus, located on an 11-acre site near Reisterstown Plaza Metro Station on Wabash Avenue in northwest Baltimore. The transit-oriented facility is designed to house up to 2,300 employees and consists of two office buildings connected by a seven-story atrium. Additional project components included a 1,076-space, 345,000-square-foot parking garage, and the relocation of Vertis Park Drive.

Construction included demolishing the existing Maryland Transit Authority training complex. Anti-terrorism/force protection measures included blast-resistant precast and glass, two exterior entry vestibules, and perimeter anti-ram walls. The project team was also responsible for integrating the complex landscape and hardscape designs composed of brick paver walkways and elaborate planting schemes. Sustainable elements included a green roof, a large park, bioretention ponds, and green screens. The project was designed to achieve LEED-NC Silver Certification.

EBA inspected and tested concrete (ready-mix and precast), rebar, hot mix asphalt, superstructure, fire protection, and roofing.
