EBA offers laboratory and field material testing for construction projects and maintains a staff of over 40 laboratory technicians and field inspectors, the majority of whom are MARTCP and ACI certified.
Typical field tests include determination of soil moisture and compaction, stone gradation and compaction, chlorine content of water and the air content and slump of concrete. EBA also manufactures concrete cylinder specimens for laboratory testing. Drilling rigs and coring machines are used to perform a multitude of tests on construction materials, in addition to soils, hot asphalt, and concrete testing.
Typical laboratory tests include determination of soil and aggregate moisture-density relationships, gradations, moisture contents, and California bearing ratios. Technicians test the liquid and plastic limits and consolidated properties of soils, the compressive strength of concrete cylinders, the strength of mortar cubes, the triaxial compression strength of soils, and the unconfined compression strength of both soils and rock.
EBA’s materials testing laboratory is certified by both AASHTO and the Maryland State Highway Administration. The laboratory is routinely inspected by CCRL, AMRL, and meets R18 accreditation. EBA is licensed for the use and transportation of radioactive materials in accordance with COMAR 26.12.01.01 and is in compliance with U.S.N.R.C. Rules and regulations 10 CFR.
